I would love to have a way to give a name to a Product without it showing in the invoice. In other words, there should be a private and a public name for products.
I am in the service industry so I could for example call products:
Web Design for Huge Corporation at $100000/hr or Web Design for Small Company at $10/hr
but of course we tell the clients that we treat them all the same so the invoice should just read "Web Design"
    catch my drift?
    Thanks

    Perhaps two items

"Web Design @ $100,000 per hour"
"Web Design @ $10 per hour"

You may have trouble later, if a small company grows into a large coropration and suddenly has a price increase 10xfold. But that is a business/marketing issue, not one to be discussed here re:SimpleInvoices.

Of course I know I can have two different items with different hourly rates, but if I name them the way you suggest the client will see that, which is what I am trying to avoid.

Better way would have the option to manually edit the text label fields on the fly... That way you can have it the way you would like.
This is allso suggested as a feature in newer releases.

    hey guys

    good idea

    a workaround could be to
    - create custom field for products called 'Public name' or similar and enter what you want to appear on the invoice in this field for each product
    - then in the normal product name enter the 'private name'
    - then edit the invoice templates and change the display to show $product.customfield_1 - or whatever the fields name is - you should see it in the template
    - and delete the current reference to $product.customfield_1

    let me know your thoughts

    Cheers
