    I am brand new to SI and just downloaded/installed the latest release (20080303)
    After following the installation instructions (I think). SI started up in German which I can not read.
    Also, I could not find the pdf directory to make or test the PDF features.

    So, what did I do wrong.
    The Mysql Database looks OK
    phpinfo looks OK
    gd2 support looks OK
    Reports - keeps failing

    Being able to read the screen would help :P - then I might be able to figure out some of the messages.

    hey udstx,

    re german
    - thats weird - im ganna download the release and do a fresh install

    to change it to english open up phpmyadmin and go into the db
    - theres a system defaults table
    - browse that and find the language from

    change it from
    8 language dee or whatever its set to
    to
    8 language en-gb

    re pdf
    - i got to update the documentation
    -- pdf lives in ./library/pdf

    you way want to try a total fresh install (including new database)

    OK - I fixed the German by changing the first si_system_defaults.language to en-gb :P .

    I still have problems with getting through the Database Upgrade Manager. That will probably go away with a fresh install.

    Is there a way to download the release as a compressed tar file via FTP. Since I am working on remote servers that I ssh into, it would be a lot less hassle. Even anonymous ftp would be easier.

    The new release 20080309 did the trick. All of the data structure was fine and the installation & operation went very smoothly.

    glad to hear its all good

    re ftp
    - not as a tar file - only have Simple Invoices as a zip file (tar confuses all the windows people)
    - you should be able to find a sourceforge ftp mirror to download it off - but im not sure of the details
