Before downloading Simple Invoices there are a few things you first need to be aware of

General

Simple Invoices is a web based application that you install on your server or pc. Read the sections below for more info on this.

If you don't have a server please refer the market place for a list of Simple Invoices service providers who can provide you with Simple Invoices hosting - think gmail but for invoicing

Basics

Simple Invoices is a web based application
- this means that any PC or device that has a web browser can use Simple Invoices
- this also means that for you to access Simple Invoices it first needs to be installed on a server or PC that has
  - PHP
  - A web server available (normally Apache)
  - and the MySQL database server
  - refer: requirements for the best way to install these

Put simply
- Simple Invoices needs to live on a server or PC with the required server software installed
- you can then access Simple Invoices by using a web browser
- The benefit of Simple Invoices being a web based application is that it can work on any system that has a web browser - be that Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, etc..
- but the downfall is that it can be a pain in the ass to setup
but i don't have a server!! - refer below

Here you can find service providers that offer Simple Invoices hosting and installation services to make your life easier
- Hosting is you using Simple Invoices that is already installed and setup on their servers
- Installation service is the installation of Simple Invoice for you on your server

I have downloaded the product and have installed it. Under the “Options” and “Database Manager” there are no buttons for update or for anything for that matter and when I try to input anything, “Customer” “Biller” etc. here is the failure code that I get. “INSERT into si_biller values ( NULL, 'Name',,,,,,,,,,,'_default_blank_logo.png',,,,,,,'1') Column count doesn't match value count at row 1.

Hey Stephen,

re Database Manager - there used to be an upgrade button - but now Simple Invoices checks for you and prompts you to upgrade the database if required

re error - best option is to create a new database and make sure you use the SimpleInvoices.sql file

I am new here but completely lost during installation from here:

Create a simple_invoices database on your database server. I recommend you use phpMyAdmin to create/manage your new database.

refer requirements, need_to_know, and install pages
Simple Invoices requires that MySQL, Apache and PHP are available on the PC your using - you can install WAMP for this

Hi Justin,

A week ago I installed simple invoice whiteout any problems. I work with it, configured it, no problem at all. Clearly there are some thing still under development, but it dose not keep me from using it. One thing i really mis is “the date” i send an invoice to a customer in the invoice list.

In mite be a good idea to optimize the more than 40MB big library, sorry i cant help you, im not a php hero :)
